Help with Threed32.ocx Licensing problem
Hi Dave:
I can understand your frustration since I've been through this myself.
First of all: there's a readme file on the VB5 disk (in tools\controls). It
explains what you need to do in order to make the ocx's work.
To register Threed32.ocx drag it and drop it into RegSvr32.exe in your
windows\system directory. To update the license information in your registry
(and that is what you were missing) double-click Vbctrls.reg on the VB5 disk
(again in tools\controls). If the .REG file extension is not associated with
any application, you will need to do so before you can continue: in Explorer
go into menu view\options and set up a new type with .REG extension. The
action is "Merge". The app is RegEdit.exe.
From that point on you can start using the "old" 3D controls again. As to
your VB error: someone else may know what caused it. But if in doubt I would
re-install VB5 and SP3.
