With VB3.0 you could get a program called expand.exe which allowed you
to manually expand files which were compressed with the compress.exe
supplied in the setup kit.

Can anyone point me to where I can get an updated version for vb5? I
can't find one in the installed files.

There is a file called extrac32.exe in your windows dir. That might do the
job.
