HELP: How-to determine if 32-bit shelled app is finished

Hello,

My program needs to be able to detect when a shelled application has
finished executing (I'm using VB 4.0 Pro 32-bit).

I found the MS Knowledge Base article (Q129796) with the code and all.  I
cut and pasted the code into my app.  However, it doesn't work.  What
happens is the following:

The external application is launched and begins to load.  But after a
few seconds it locks up and just sits there doing nothing.  If I press
CTRL-ALT-DEL, it says [Not Responding] by the application.

Is there an error in the KB article?  Does someone have some other code
they have used successfully for this purpose?

Thank you,

Mark
