Dear Folks:

This time I am having a serious problem in VB.

I have a form with 2 command buttons. The first one's
caption says "Do Search" and the Second one's caption
says "Cancel Search". The User clicks "Do Search". The
VB code calls a DLL which searches a database. But if
the search takes too long I want the user to click "Cancel
Search" and cancel the Search. But the problem is once
the dll starts searching, VB is no longer in control and
thus I cannot detect the "Cancel Search" button click.
Timer events are not working since once the dll gets going
                VB is not in control.

So How do I implement this "Cancel Button" feature???

Does it have to be on the DLL side?? or Some API Call??

This is an important question. So please help.

                Any tips highly appreciated.

                Thanks a lot!!

Please post answer to the net since I cannot receive e-mail.

Is your .DLL yielding at judicious points in the code to allow
others get in?  (A few peek message calls pehaps?)
