Freeware: Win-Shell for COMPRESS.EXE (tiny utility)
Well, to anyone who does not use the setup-wizard but still
uses COMPRESS.EXE for compressing their distributable files:
I wrote a VERY tiny Win-interface (it just nerved me to over
and over again go to DOS, give some commandline and all
that) that surely everyone of us could write (but someone's
got to do it in the end) which lets you choose (one or)
multiple files in a directory and let them be compressed by
COMPRESS.EXE from M$.
It's really no big deal at all, but as I was nerved of the
procedure I just wrote this (don't expect it to offer any
furthergoing comfort) and thought one or the other in here
might as well take advantage of it.
If you'd like to see or use it download 4kB from
http://www.*-*-*.com/
(requires: VBRUN300.DLL and COMPRESS.EXE).
(my provider was down when I was online the last time so if
you receive any "file not found" please try again, I'll
upload the file ASAP).
BTW: If you know a good freeware-utility that does this job
somewhat better please post, I'd be interested.
OK, enjoy it if it saves you a minute or two.
