 Error VER.DLL with SETUP.EXE

Hi,
i have problems using the setup tool.
The SETUP.EXE tries to do something with the
VER.DLL and that causes ERRORs :(

I now call my SETUP1.EXE as the main SETUP.EXE
but that doesn't work because when he wants to
have to second diskette the DIR-command needs
the VBRUN.DLL to process. When the VBRUN300.DLL
is on the first DISKETTE he won't proceed.

So the SETUP1.EXE is copied to the WINDOWS system dir
by SETUP.EXE .. but SETUP.EXE caused trouble with VER.DLL
*grrrrr* :((

I don't know how to proceed :((

Can you help?

ciao
Daniel

Just curious if this is the same problem I am having... On my WIN95
machine it works fine but on my WIN3.1 machine SETUP gives me an error
telling me that it cannot load VER.DLL.

I'm not sure how long you all have been chasing this but for what it is
worth - yes there are a few things to be aware of when building setup
disks on Win '95 for use on 3.1 machines.  I have not yet figured out a
way around them either but search on 'dll' in the help system for VB4 and
you will get some of the basic information.  I have exactly the same
problem and it is caused by using '95s new dll's on an old machine.

DON'T LOAD INSTALL DISKS CREATED IN W95 ONTO A WFW MACHINE! YOU'LL NUKE IT!

Some of the DLL's that Setup Wizard puts on the install disks,
like VER.DLL, are specific to the version of Windows. However,
install disks created on a WfW machine won't trash W95 or NT
machines, probably because of the version checking the install
program uses.

This has been discussed before but it is worth mentioning again.  If you
are programming in Windows95 environment, you can NO LONGER make setup
disks for 3.1 users without the use of a third party setup program.  As
a matter of fact, you can{*filter*}up a 3.1 users machine if it replaces
files from the 95 system.  Use WISE setup (and there are others) that do
not depend on your programming environment for setup.
