Exit code of DOS app under NT 4.0

How can I retrieve the exit code of a MS-DOS application running under
Windows NT 4.0?  Simply calling GetExitCodeProcess() using the process
handle returned by CreateProcess() always returns 255, no matter what
the DOS app actually returns (this works as desired under Windows 95).
I think the problem has to do with NT running DOS apps under a shared
VDM, and I am not really getting a true process handle to the DOS app.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks, Bob
