 Making back ups

I have learned over the years that it is important to make backup copies
of my programs.   I am using VB 5.0 Professional and worries me that
there seems to be no simple way that I can make a back up of my work
onto a floppy disk.   Using ''Save Project As'' to A: (my floppy drive)
does not appear to do this as it doesn't appear to save the forms or
modules.  Can someone enlighten me further please?

 Making back ups

If you File/Save Project As  and save to Drive A: you are actually
saving only the project file to drive a, not each file in the project.

The only thing in the project file is a reference to the location of the
forms and modules in the project. Its the one file that you can do
without!

To properly save your VB projects on floppies you would have to save
each file individually, and save the project file. Saving the project
only saves any updates during editing to the current reference path in
the project file for each file in the project.

Personally I copy all files of a project using Explorer EXCEPT the
project file to backup disks. If I ever need to resore from diskettes I
can rebuild the project file.

For serious backups, use a tape drive and copy the entire directory.

In my Project Manager for VB3 I added a function to create a copy of a
project, with all files listed in the MAK file, and additional data files,
as manually added to the project description. In the copy, all pathes are
removed, so the project can be copied back to whatever drive and directory
you like.

Unfortunately this tool doesn't work with VB4/VB5, due to a changed syntax
in the VBP files, and all the other files created by VB5 (VBW...). But I
hope to adopt it to VB5, with the next release of my VB4TOOLS.
