How to convert old binary module and form files back to text sourc3e

I recently bought VB5.0 to use it to modify a VB program that was created with an earlier version of VB (I don't know which version). When I try to open the .mak file I get error messages that the files are in "binary" format. VB Help says the ability to convert binary back to source text was only in VB v2 and v3. The bottom line -- is there a way to get a previous version of VB and/or is there a utility I can use to convert the files. Thanks,
