VBA compiler VS VB5 compiler?

 VBA compiler VS VB5 compiler?

Can anyone tell me the differences between the VBA compiler (in Access 97)
and the VB5 stand-alone compiler? Does VBA compile only to pcode? I know
that VB5 will now compile to optimized machine code. (The MS site of course
says nothing bad about VBA, so it says nothing about its compiler
technology.) I'm trying to decide if I must purchase VB5 to get the
performance I need.
