Datasource Behaviour (vb6)

 Datasource Behaviour (vb6)

Hi All,
Question.  When we click on a datasource property of any control in the
properties window the system hits the hard drive RATHER heavilly, and then
after about 1 minute, it drops down the list of valid datacontrols on that
particular form.  Has anyone experienced this?

This problem only occurred since upgrading to vb6.  It was never an issue
before.  We have over 40 forms.  Could it be that vb6 is searching ALL forms
for valid data sources?  I think this MAY be the case as we removed half of
the forms, and it then took half as long to load the datasources.  We are
using the standard data controls. (DAO)

Thanks in advance.

I am experiencing the exact same problem as you are. The only difference is
that I am using the ADO data controls. I also have well over 40 forms so I
can imagine that it is searching all forms for valid data sources. I seem to
have eased the problem slightly by getting rid of many repetitive data
controls and moving towards using the Data Environment more effectively.
However, except for that, I don't see what else I can do except learn to
live with it. Please let me know if you find out any more information.
