Access97 reading read-only Access95 databases

 Access97 reading read-only Access95 databases

I have an app where all of the databases it reads are
in Access95 databases. In some instances, it will need
to read data off of a CD (so it will be read-only). Most of the
time, it works fine for most users.

*UNLESS* they have Access97 installed on their machine.
Then, for whatever reason, it cannot open it as read-only.
At all. Is there a way to force it to open it read only? I can't
believe Access works this way. I'm near the end of my
development, and I had no idea this problem existed.
The Knowledge Base claims it will either convert it, or
open it and leave it alone. It appears to want to change
it no matter what on the first open.
