Oracle,ODBC and truncated SQL

 Oracle,ODBC and truncated SQL

We're accessing Oracle from a VB front-end. Occasionally, a session will hang.
The buffer in SQLAREA shows a truncated SQL statement (exactly 20 bytes worth
in the cases we've been able to capture to date). There is no apparent pattern
(naturally) to this; it has cropped up in more than one transaction or query.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Any advice on where to begin tracking this
one down?

The particulars:
Oracle - v7.0.16, running under HP-Unix
SQL*Net - v2.0
ODBC driver - Oracle's own
VB - v3.0, using Intersolv's Q+E library to get to ODBC.
TCP/IP stack -- a mix of users running Novell LAN workplace and Netmanag
Chameleon. I believe the error has cropped up in both stacks.

Many, many thanks in advance for your help.
