Hello Mike,

You may already have done this.

Have you increased the Max number of application record locks which
may have be reset to their defualt values after your server crash?

        Hope this helps

After Novell server crash\restore, a secured Access 2.0 MDB (for a
VB\Access app) will not process an append query and I'm getting an
abnormal number of record lock messages.  Yes, I have repaired,
compacted, and even rebuilt my MDB.  Things were fine before the crash
for over a month.  Are there server settings that I should be looking
at for any changes during the crash\restore?

Have you tried deleting the *.ldb file?
This is the record locking portion of the database. If you delete it a
new one will be created the next time you access the database. Often
times this will clean up a recorf locking related problem.

Yes, I have deleted LDB, repaired, compacted, and even rebuilt a new
MDB.  I finally got a Lan Admin to give me some Novell setting info:
Max File Locks Per User:  250
Max Record Locks Per User:  500
Max Record Locks for server:  20,000

He noticed that there had been a high number of record locks so he
doubled the max locks per user from 500 to 1000.

Cross your fingers...

Alan, the Novell setting HAD reverted back to defaults after the
crash.  They have now placed the Max Record locks setting per user in
the server's AutoExec.  Works like a champ.

Thanks a ton.
