ODBC drivers for Informix (and other SQL db's) are available from 3rd parties.
(Intersolv and Visigenics)
VB only includes Oracle, and SQL Server, as well as native access to dBase,
Paradox, Access, 1-2-3, Excel, etc.

Using Informix also requires INET. The Windows 95 version is not yet
available, but I have been told that the NT version works with 95. For 16-bit
access, the 16-bit ODBC and INET will work under Windows 95.

Also, the 32-bit ODBC Drivers (at least from Informix) are version 2.11, not
2.5 as they are for Oracle. They will work with RDO, but are not optimized
for it.

Hope this helps

Both VB 4 Pro and VC++ 4 come with the Visigenic 32-bit Oracle driver, as
well as an older 16-bit Oracle driver.  *NO* informix drivers though.
(Drivers above refer to ODBC).

VB4 Enterprise works different - I think it has native Oracle support
(works with sql*net w/o ODBC?).  Don't know about Informix.

By the way, I'm pretty sure Delphi supports Informix natively.

Just thought I'd mention that...

You need the much-more-expensive client-server Delphi edition to do that
though...

You can access Informix databases using ODBC.

Provided you have purchased Informix ODBC drivers from a 3rd-party (we use
Intersolv) and INET for Windows for Informix. The Intersolv ODBC drivers will
set you back about $580 US for a 5-seat license (the minimum) and INET about
$100 per seat.
