Hello.  I have an old VB 4 application which runs fine connecting to a
SQL 4.2 server.

We have since upgraded the server to 6.5, but can no longer connect.  We
are using VBSQL.VBX and on the SQLOpen() call, it sits for about a
minute and then returns a status of no connection.

Is there something different I need to do connecting to a 6.5 database
vs. a 4.2 database?  Is there a SQL error code I can check (I tried an
error handler, but no errors were returned)?

Sorry, I have not experienced this problem directly, but, I will say that
VB4 apps. are not old and out of date, just because Microsoft, suddenly
decided, that, to make more money, we must make people feel outdated, and,
introduce another version, if it works it's a bonus to the public, if it
doesn't, we can sell service packs!!

VB4 does as much, if not more, than the so called VB5 / 6.

One thing I have noticed, is, that with each release of VB, people seem to
know less and less, about how a PC operates.

VB4 apps. are not old and out of date, just because Microsoft, suddenly
decided, that, to make more money, we must make people feel outdated, and,
