using Visual FoxPro Databases in Visual Basic 6.0

Hello I am trying to read/write to a FoxPro Database in Visual Basic. At
this time I am using the Data Control and picking a FoxPro database while I
can read the database fine the problem comes when I try to write to it or
create a new record. It tells me the database is read-only. I made sure that
is wasn't opened in VB as read-only and I made sure I have write access to
the file in windows, and the database doesn't have any read-only fields. Now
I know the Data Control is the best thing to use but it is the only thing
that I know at this point. If you have a better way of doing this I will be
open to ideas.
