 Work-For-Hire: Technical Editor (book) Wanted

I'm looking to sign a Technical Editor as a work-for-hire opportunity for
a book in progress which will focus on a forthcoming version of VB and
accounting/finance principles (kind of an "Accounting/Finance
Developer's Guide") which will include fully operational GL, AP, AR, and
inventory systems.

You will be responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy of the text in
the book, including verification of the source code running as presented
and indicating where the code could or should be improved. You'll
also be responsible for checking the disk which accompanies the
book. Obviously, the more capable you are of providing feedback
(communications skills), the better. The ability to work on a tight
schedule should be emphasized.

You should be well-versed in a variety of VB programming principles and
more than capable of dealing with undocumented beta (forthcoming VB) software.

Obviously, those possessing accounting/finance or EDP auditing experience
have a significant advantage, although this is not a requirement. It is
possible two such persons will be selected -- one emphasizing VB, the
other, accounting/finance principles.

Because we only work with manuscripts electronically, you should
access to and familiarity with WinWord (Word for Windows).  Version 6.0x is
preferred but 2.0x is acceptable.

Please respond with a resume (uuencoded WinWord-compatible or ASCII text)
highlighting your experience as a VB developer (incl. finance) and
appropriate contact information.

Only personal replies will be considered -- public follow-ups to this
message will be ignored.

   Greeting Phil--

I am interested in the VB tech editor job.  I think I meet
all of the qualifications you specified.  I haven't seen
the beta yet, but I am on the waiting list. . . .

I worked on the Data Access Guide as an Editor (contract)
at Microsoft for the VB3 Professional Edition.  I would love
to do the VB for Accounting book.

I will uuencode my resume and mail it today.  It is
Word 6.0, btw.

Regards.
