 Code Problem-"Not an object"? (RB 2.1.2)

Hi everybody.

I have problem. It seems that, for some reason I get an error "Not an
object" when working with a property. Usually when this happens, I
change the name of the property, and the problem disappears. It won't
this time, so  I need several questions answered:

What does the error mean?
Why did my fix work before this time?
Why didn't it work this time?
How can I fix it every time?

Any help with any or all of these would be nice.

So do we.  Mainly, what's the code that causing this error?

This error means that you're trying to access the property of something
that is, well, not an object.  Without seeing your code it's hard to
say much more about it.

Cheers,
- Joe

Anytime that I use a  property five or six times that has been defined.
Here is the exact line it happens the first to:

data3=left(data1,len(pilotname.text)+1)

it's an editfield. Both "data"s are strings dim ed at the beginning.

Hmm, looks OK to me.  Try breaking it up into steps (i.e., start with
"s = pilotname.text", then "l = len(s)", and so on).  This should help
pin down where the real problem is.

Good luck,
- Joe
