 Making Controls transparent

Hi, All--

Is there some way to make controls , editfields, chasing arrows in
particular, transparent, as in when you have a pattern for a backdrop in
your window and you want the text in an editfield to appear over the
pattern, but not any colored background surrounding the text?

Best Regards,
Jeffrey Ellis
