 Don't miss it!

Our company president, Bob Zale, has often been heard to use his personal
favorite phrase, "Stay Tuned...".  Well, here's your golden opportunity!
This Saturday, May 15, 1999, powerbasic executives will make an announcement
of epic proportions.  PowerBASIC programmers shouldn't miss one single word!
Hear it all live, and in person:  The PC-Talk Radio Show, hosted by Information
Week editor Rich Levin, will feature Bob Zale and Dave Navarro, to discuss
this exciting news.  The show originates from CBS affiliate WPHT Talk Radio,
Philadelphia (1210 AM), beginning at 12:00 Noon Eastern Time. Visit
www.RBLevin.net for more information on PC-Talk, but DON'T MISS OUT

We poor shmuks in the UK have a little difficulty tuning to a Philadelphia
radio station!  I was sort of hoping that the "announcement of epic
proportions" was going to be repeated on the PowerBASIC website, but no -
it's obvious that everybody who matters (ie. Americans) will have heard it
on the radio!

Does it have anything to do with the development of PB/DLL into a viable
competitor to VB, which we have been promised for some time?

Take a look at the PB web BBS site for more pre-release info:

A tad bit of sour grapes there John?  Or did you just feel like spouting
a bit of bull**** when you woke up this morning?

We posted some information on our web BBS and our sales people are fast
and furiously working on a new page for our web site.

And as soon as we get the recording from the studio, we'll make it
available on our web site via RealAudio.

Sorry about that <grin>.  I was feel frustrated because I couldn't find out
anything about the much-heralded announcement.  The website didn't give any
information and I just didn't think of looking on the BBS.  Judging by some
of the other comments I wasn't the only one in this position - so I think
you have to take some of the responsibility.

Also, I was really looking forward to the development of PB/DLL and Powergen
into a tool that could provide a valid alternative to VB for small projects.
You suggested/promised this when Powergen first came out.  Is this any
nearer?

Regards, John.

Dave:
So tell us, what's it about?  Wouldn't this be a good place to make any
anouncements relating to basic?

In a week or two, PB/DLL 6.0 and PB/CC 2.0 will be released.

Some new features to both compilers:
- Build-in TCP/IP support (both server & client), as well as UDP.
- Regular expressions
- Build-in COM support
- Dynamic Dialog Tools (PB/DLL only) which allows you to create graphical
dialog windows on the fly... Pretty powerfull.
- A lot of other, smaller additions
        (Mcase$, optional leading zero's for BIN$/HEX$/OCT$, Diskfree,
        Disksize, Filecopy, Filename$, FileAttr, Parse$, Sleep, Strinsert$,
        Strdelete$, etc...)
