Advice on TCP/IP for 16 bit VB4: Win 3.1 and Win 95 Development

I have to develop a product for a corporate client that can run on both
Windows 3.1 and Windows 95, using 16 bit VB4. I don't want to develop two
seperate programs, however my experience is limited with TCP/IP on Windows
3.1.

Could anyone recommend a good set of VBX controls that work well with VB4
and a suitable Winsock host that I can use to connect to the Internet. I
have used Trumpet Winsock before, but I have been advised to use OnNet,
which I have never heard off . Any ideas, comments? Will these winsock hosts
work OK on Win95? Any help much appreciated.

Please could you c.c. any replies to my e-mail address as well, as my ISP
new server is bit unreliable.

Many thanks,

Paul Stancer

Hi there,

You can use FSsocket.vbx which is an excellent control for 16/32 bit
TCP/IP Programming.

Paul,

Catalyst offers a TCP/IP development package (SocketTools) that you might
find useful. The controls are available both for 16-bit and 32-bit platform.
The free evaluation software can be downloaded at our web site
(www.catalyst.com). The evaluation software comes with full documentation
and sample VB code. Our web site also gives a tutorial on TCP/IP development
entitled "An Introduction to TCP/IP Programming" that should be of some
assistance to you.
