Why do C programmers dump on Basic programmers

Because most C users SUCK!
They don't understand that all it takes is a little creativity to do almost
anything in BASIC.

I use C myself, but I realize there's more to BASIC than meets the eye, and
all it takes is a bit of imagination to unleash that hidden power.  C is a
better, more powerful language, but I still love, and always will love
BASIC.

Knowing almost no other C programmers besides my humble self, I do not know.
However, from here on, I agree.

Take even QBasic for example. I find programs all the time written in
QBasic that impress me. Short of compiling, I do not believe someone
could easily (if ever) exhaust the raw functionality of even little ole
QBasic, the humble (and now dated) interpreter.

Yes, C IS a better and more powerful language NOW but I would like to add two
things in agreement:
  1. The power of a language is directly demonstrated by its programmers, and
  2. At least for powerbasic, powerful new features are planned for addition
that will hopefully give it the power of C++ (yes, even C++) but with the
ease and simplicity known in BASIC.

Especially for the features added (and to be added to) in PowerBASIC. I have
heard that FutureBASIC for the Mac is awesome too (and it is the first
piece of software I have seen with a better price than its Intel competitors;
one post said $79(~) from Zedcor(? I think)).

Let's just drop it, K! We've wasted entirely too much time talking
about it when we could of beem coding something useful.

Their just monkey see monkey do type of people. They see everyone
degrading BASIC so they degrade it without any real ammunition,
As long as their not planning on joining the armed forces they cause
no harm.

Good Netiquett there Daniel... :') Just kidding, I'm a relative newbie.
I know what you mean. For all those people out there on this newsgroup,
QuickBasic and Basic was and always has been the most versatile language
ever invented.
Any C programmers wanna argue with me? Eat this... I know assembly and C
and C++ and Pascal(Just a bit - yuk!), and BASIC and VisualBasic, and on
and on... But I always come back to QuickBasic for design. C is the only
language that makes it impossible to understand what a piece of code does
unless you made it yourself or there's documentation. I can look at a
piece of 32-bit protected mode assembly with selectors, GDT definitions,
the whole bit, and still feel the basic point of it. C is great for power,
I'll give it that. But certainly NOT for the design aspect of
programming.
Basic allows you to forget about the intricacies and focus on the
problem, not on the problems of designing the solution to the solve the
problems that you have in C. I will always do design in either QB or VB.
(They're great for making tools for making programs.) And only after this
will I do it in C or C++ if I need the speed. Even this is extreme,
anyone ever heard of QLB's and LIB's?
So for all you people out there trying to defend BASIC, look at what
your doing. Your defending the soul of programming. Something you don't
need to do. BASIC will always be around; the day that it isn't will be a
sad day for this world. Good luck on your quest for knowledge and don't
stray from the mother  that nurtured us all...You have one ally in the
fight for real life.
