 Why so fast??

Is there a reason why messages only last about 10 days before disappearing?

Depends on the policies of your local news-server's administrator. Some of
them are more lenient than others. This group has has an unusual amount of
traffic lately with the "moronism" and "please help" threads. Maybe that
pushed your server over some internal quota and cut the old stuff off.

If you want to see older messages, try searching on www.dejanews.com

Chris.

If you read news group comp.lang.asm370 from Prodigy's news server, then they
are, indeed, the ones you must contact.  If you read the group from some other
news server, then you must contact whomever runs that news server.  Publicly
accessible news servers exist and can be accessed via any ISP.  News servers
run by an ISP, on the other hand, typically restrict access to the server to
occur only from the ISP's domain.  Check the mail and news group settings in
your browser to make the determination.
