Access 97 and signed number formats

Hello all !

I have an application built in Access 97 which imports ASCII data into
a predefined database structure.  This data is originally taken from a
UNISYS mainframe using download programs written in COBOL.
Unfortunately, all numeric fields are in signed format.  Is there any
built-in way to deal with this (rather than writing a conversion
routine) ?  I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer.  Much
thanks in advance !

Mark
