How to make Microsoft Word TWAIN COMPATIBLE to facilitate remote scanning

Folks:

I want to use Microsoft Word to scan documents on a remote scanner.  To achieve this goal, it is necessary to make Microsoft Word TWAIN COMPATIBLE.
Adobe Photoshop 7.0 is Twain Compatible and works well with the remote scanner.  Is there a way to make Microsoft Word TWAIN COMPATIBLE, so that I can do remote scanning.

Thanks,
John.

ScanSoft v12 OCR software can be set up to use a twain driver from MS Word.  I have both PS 7 and MS Office XP working this way under Windows XP Pro with an HP 5470c scanner.

The latest Visioneer scanner I received included Textbridge Pro software
which adds a scan command to the Word file menu. This command uses the
Textbridge software to run the scanner and OCR into Word. It is the
Textbridge which is TWAIN compatible. (Otherwise, if you figure out a way to
get Word to run the scanner directly, you'll get an image, rather than text,
in your document.) I believe OmniPage will do the same thing. So - look to
your OCR software and see if it has an option to work directly within Word.

Omnipage 10 definitely links into Word. It puts a template file in the MS
Office startup folder trhat allows it to show Omnipage icons in the Word
toolbars etc
