Date, Trim, STR Functions Don't Work

I get this problem where Trim and Str will not work, i.e. give an error messahe, when I use them in queries. Trim works in code, though. I also now have Date() not working in a report on an unbound field. I get the #Name# problem. This problem on happens on my laptop running my application. The
laptop has Windows 98. The application was installed as a trial run test like it is on my clients. So far I'm the only one having this problem and just on this machine. Works on all the clients and my development desktop. The only odd thing I could come up with that might be different from my
clients and from my development desktop is that I have Visual Basic 6.0 installed on the laptop.

I've seen other message about this problem and the answers have been to check to see if a Reference is Missing. Well, all the References are there. None are missing.

Anyone have some other ideas?

Diane

If all your references are correct and present,
but they still don't work, then

Re-Install

I have VB6, Win98 and Access 97

I'm assuming you don't mean reinstall Access! If you did fortunately that drastic measure was not neccesary. There was a reference to Microsoft Common Controls (COMCTL32.OCX). The version of this OCX on my laptop was newer than the one on my development machine. Beside which after I took off this
reference is seems I did not even need it.  Removing this reference solved the problem.
