 Protected and unprotected sections in a document

Word 2000, 1997

Is there a way to create a two sections in a document and have
protected fields in one section and the other section unprotected
so that text can be entered in the protected form fields then
additional information can be typed into the unprotected section
of the document?

Yes.  Place the cursor where you want the end of the first section to be.
From the menu, pick "insert", then "break".  Check "continuous", trhen "OK".
When you protect the form, pick "Form", and then click on the "section"
button.  Last, choose which sections you want to protect, then save the
document.
