COUNT OF CHARACTERS IN A MAIL

Hi Folks,

Is there a way to do a run time counter, which displays during writing
an email in outlook 97 / 98 and 2000 / XP the number of written characters.

Let say the following would be the mail:
e.g.
Hallo everybody

The counter should display: 15 characters

Primaraly this schould work under outlook 98.
Additionally is it possible to do this as an Outlook Add-In so I can deploy
this little function to all other outlook 98 users?
How about macro? I guess macro would be needed to be started everytime in
order to get it run.
The best would be that this Add-In starts automatically as soon as the
outlook 98 starts.

Thanks
