reset character spacing to default paragraph spacing

I have to work on word files which have been layouted before with heavy
using the -1 to -3 spacing to fit words in one line.

For quite a while I am looking for a elegant solution with Word 2000/WordXP
(with the older word versions it worked fine to apply a different paragraph
style to each paragraph, and then apply the original style again).

I can't just mark the whole text an set the text globally to 0 spacing,
because I have certain paragraph styles with a default of -0,1. And Ctr.
space would not help either, because I would loose all my italic or bold
formatting.

Maybe someone in this forum has already done a macro for that purpose?
