I'm fairly new to XML, so please accept my apologies for
any stupid questions.

How do I convert my "bookmarked" word text and also my doc-
properties into a XML tree ?

Formerly I would use "write" to create an .INI file, how
do I create my XML file ???

If VBA is not a requirement, you might want to have a look at standalone
Word to XML converters like Majix, RTF2FO, Schema Markup Kit or the
product of the company I work for (<www.infinity-loop.de>), upCast. The
latter converts bookmarks and also default and custom document
properties to structured XML; a free private/evaluation version is
available.
