 cmd Buttons on form won't work until VBE is opened then closed.

Access 2000
I have one form in my project with two command buttons. Suddenly the buttons
have stopped working when the application is first launched. I have noticed
that when I open the VBE, forage around in it for a while and close it, the
command buttons suddenly start working... even when I don't change anything.

Any help gratefully accepted.
