Reading public folders on exchange server

Are all public folders accessable by
using the following code example?  Basically
is getshareddefaultfolder the best method for getting
access to the shared folders?

This implies that to reach the public shared folder on an
exchange server, they must belong to a recipient?

' VBScript code example.
Set olns = Item.Application.GetNameSpace("MAPI")
Set myRecipient = olns.CreateRecipient("John Smith")
myRecipient.Resolve
If myRecipient.Resolved Then
   Set JohnFolder = olns.GetSharedDefaultFolder
(myRecipient, 10)
End If
