access program database shrink in Access 2000

just for info did you notice that the access code shrinked an amazing 60%
after conversion from Access 97 to Access 2000

my program mdb shrinked from 18Mb to 4MB after conversion, and it seems
faster.

I did not convert my data mdb as I am only running 2000 on my notebook and
still cautiously keeping my production PC's running office 97

Hiya,
You'd Probably get a similar reduction by running /DeCompile & Compact
on your '97 version
(which BTW is something I do *all* the time)

Just beeing a SpoilSport ;-)

Sorry for you Pieter

But I do recompile and compress my db's every time I am adding code to them
, I am sure that's not the point BTW the mde files shrink in the same
proportion
do you also recompile your mde files *all* the time :-)

Anyhow not worth to quarrel for that, i found it just worht mentioning.

No, Peter is talking about /decompile.  Much different.  This has
saved me 10% or 20% of space even after doing compresses.  And I run
that reasonably frequently.

If you've never run it before it could save you 50% or more on a front
end MDB.
