Word 2000/2002/97 compatability

 Word 2000/2002/97 compatability

Can certain VBA code written in Word 2000 affect whether a
Word 97 user can open the document? It appears that
sometimes Word 97 users are having trouble opening
documents that have been created with the template I have
been making in Word 2000.  I don't believe there was a
problem at the beginning of my template creation, but
somewhere along the line there seems to be a problem now.
I'm not sure what and when it happened.  Thanks if anyone
is able to advise.

It's not so much the VBA code as the basic document differences.
Ensure you have your compatibility options set for full backwards
compatibility in 2k when you save for these users.

That's not sufficient.

Word still saves, e.g., REF fields with switches that cannot be interpreted
by, say, Word 7.
