Office 2000 does anybody know When

I'm working on an upgrade schedule for several Access 2.0 apps. Anybody have
the inside scoop on a release date for Office 2000? I'd hate to upgrade to
Access8.0 a month before the new version is released.

Thanks,
joan

If it helps giving you an idea, I have the Corporate Preview of Office 2000
and it's
expiry date ( Time bomb) is August 31 1999.

So you have at least until August, Microsoft is not in the habit of
releasing the official product prior to their time bombed betas.

If I understand correctly, its due to come in September, that way people
have at least 3 months to try and implement the new version, along with
Windows 2000.

Huh? They have often released prior to time bomb dates. They have gotten
lots of feedback to add a few months to anticipated release date just in
case they are delayed by anything. The official release plan still says Q2
of this year.

It's my impression that the Access 2 to 8 upgrade could be a lot of
work but mostly if you're using API calls.  From 8 to 9 should be much
less work.

However this is my impression from reading the various newsgroups.  I
haven't yet installed any beta software of any kind.  I won't install
Access 2000 for several weeks or months until newsgroup reports
indicate that either a service patch has been issued or it's running
smooth enough to not need one.

Fortunatley for me Tony, I am a Technical Instructor and have approximatley
30 computers in our one facility that allows me to put up the beta and test
it, if it crashes, I just reformat and install ( a proccess which now takes
only 10 minutes per computer over the network with automated login and ghost
software. )

So I've been pluggin away at it, so far it looks really good and very stable
compared to what i expected.
