Replacing message body text in Outlook 2000 7 XP

I have an application that encrypts and/or signs Outlook messages, and
it works well with Outlook 2000.  However, when Outlook XP, the
message gets modified and sent properly, but when the user looks in
the "Sent Items" folder, the message body is empty.

(Where encryption is concerned, we could also claim this bug to be a
feature.  But for signed messages that explanation won't hold water.)

I'm just setting the MailItem's body property to a new string, and as
I mentioned the message does get sent and delivered properly - the
body just appears empty in the copy saved to the Sent Items folder.
This problem only appears under Outlook XP; everything works perfectly
under Outlook 2000.

Does anyone know what needs to be done to work properly under Outlook
XP?  I would prefer NOT to build separate versions of this application
for 2000 and XP, if possible.  Special-case code is not a problem
though.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
