Strange false compile error message
"compile error in hidden module xxx"
It is 'hidden' in the sense that Access can't open it and show you the error.
Access can't open it because when Access makes a MDE it closes the
MDB and writes it to disk first.
Normally this is fixed with /decompile, but since it seems to work on
another machine it looks like a references problem
I have an Access 97 application that has been in release for over a year. About
two weeks ago, I started getting "compile error in hidden module xxx" when I
attempt to make an MDE file. Module "xxx" is not hidden. There are no compile
errors when normally compiled, and I can create the MDE on another machine.
About the same time this problem started happening, I removed all the Office 97
applications except Access 97 on the machine now having the problems, and added
Office 2000 including Access 2000. I've had no other problems with that
installation, but the coincidence of dates makes me suspect that this created the
problem. However, I do have another machine (the one I can make the MDE on) that
has both Access 97 and Office 2000 with Access 2000.
Any ideas what is happening here?
Thanks,
Rick Cordray
